Leftover coffee oils and hard water deposits in your coffee maker can affect the taste of coffee. They can also leave your coffee maker looking nasty. Clean your coffee maker once a month, using following recipe:
Mix one part white vinegar to two parts water in an amount large enough to fill the coffee pot. Turn on the coffeemaker. Let several cups run through, then turn it off and let sit for an hour. Start the machine again to complete the cycle, discarding the vinegar mixture afterward. Run plain water through the coffeemaker a few times until the vinegar odor disappears. To clean the carafe and filter basket, place in the top rack of the dishwasher.
To clean glass coffee pot fills the empty jug a quarter full of ice. Cut the lemon into quarters and squeeze two of the quarters into the jug. Add 2 tablespoons of salt. Swirl the mixture in the jug for 2 minutes and rinse.
